(Japan) Osaka in fall 1 – Arrival & transfer

It was a burdensome trip as we had just returned from Vietnam, but as soon as I heard that Jay’s friend was returning to his hometown (Osaka) from SFO, we made up mind and bought a plane ticket. As you probably know, Osaka is a place that Koreans go to the most, so if you search a little, you can find a lot of information. plus sometimes insanely cheap flight ticket also. First of all, I failed to find the cheapest flight ^^ (Why have flights become so expensive these days?). Jay is the man who even when he was in San Francisco, he liked Japanese brands and looked for them. Just as Hawaii and Mexico seem to us(Asian’s) to be countries we can’t visit easily, I think to Jay and Americans, Japan and Korea are countries that feel that much of a distance from each other. Anyway, Jay was excited to go to Japan in person (this blog is in the process of moving records from last November, so you know that time US exchange rate back then was really good!)

Anyways, finally we arrived at Osaka Airport, and immediately followed the signs to where I can take the high-speed train. (express tain name is “Haruka”) KIX (Arrive at Kansai Airport) – Go to the Haruka or other high-speed train – When you come out exit gate from airport and take the escalator that goes up right in front of you – JR Haruka ticket (recommended to purchase in advance – Link is listed below / When purchased on there, the price is a quite expensive and there is a long line at the ticket counter)

  • If you are not ready before, go to the machine with the cute blue kitty at the top of the kiosk!
  • If you purchase in advance, prepared voucher then go to JR side green color top of the kiosk! Middle of kiosk you can check global mark! (It’s important! ) – this kiosk only can read passport! / In other words, it is a process of converting the voucher into an actual ticket, and please be aware that two tickets are issued at this time.

We had more things to do than just this, so we went to the JR Info Center. We had two ICOCA cards that we used the before, *IF you are in first time in Japan, should buy ICOCA card – That card is a card that allows you to use basic transportation when traveling in Japan. You can purchase and recharge at any convenience store. Here, you can purchase and recharge at the information center. There are chargers at each subway station, and a card deposit fee is charged for the first purchase. You can purchase a special card kitty or pattern when purchasing at the information center.

Checked the Haruka ticket and  ICOCA card fully charged at the information center!

We tend to take long, leisurely trips, so I know that there are many different types of transportation tickets that can be purchased within Japan for those who are going for a short trip of 3 days and 2 nights. When planning a trip, I recommend that you first decide on the areas you will travel to and check for discount tickets for those areas through Klook, kkday, or what we know. We usually buy a Haruka ticket when traveling to central Tokyo or Osaka, but this time we were planning a trip to Miyajima and Hiroshima also with friends, so we purchased the #KansaiHiroshimaPass! 5 days! It was very expensive to go to Miyajima or Hiroshima on-site purchase. It is a pass created by the Japanese government for tourists that locals cannot purchase, so if you use it well, it is recommended as it can be used a lot!

Serch keyword = #KansaiAirport #Haruka  #ExpressTrain – Be sure to download the app to receive discounts and manage your voucher throughout your trip! Japan is a very analog country. Will check the physical ticket, so be sure to keep it with you until the end!

*KKday – A discount coupon appears when you first download the app. Take advantage of it!

Make full use of your reserved seats! And you can eat in at Haruka, so prepare an egg salad sandwich (Janpan 7-11(convenience shop’s specialty)or snacks from the convenience store ^^

(Black_imjaa’s travel style) If you are pursuing a style similar to ours! Please become friends and read other articles ^^

  1. As of now, there is no binding time, so we are not bound by the date. Can usually purchase tickets on the cheapest day.
  2. We enjoy shopping in the city and hiking and swimming in nature.
  3. We like going to good restaurants, but the standards of the restaurant must be clean and commensurate with the price. I don’t like just fancy(interior for photo) places (cost-effectiveness~!)
  4. We tend to constantly try traditional flavors such as local food and bread snacks.
  5. Depending on whether you have a motorcycle rental or not, the accommodation is usually located in a completely natural setting or a place accessible on foot. (More cost-effective than a resort!)
  6. I like digging into convenience stores – ^^ I especially like digging into traditional bakery snacks ^^
  7. Although the rough information is set, the detailed schedule is changed depending on the situation.
  8. If possible, try not to go to representative or famous tourist attractions.
